            Cinelândia, bairro do Rio de Janeiro. Ali se encontra um dos mais belos monumentos arquitetônicos do Brasil, um exemplar da arquitetura eclética construído no início no século XX: o Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Projetado em um contexto histórico onde desejava-se transformar a então capital do país em um grande centro aos moldes de Paris, o teatro é concebido como réplica da Ópera de Paris

             O Teatro nasce em meio a essa atmosfera de virada de século, de busca por modernidade e, desde então, traz consigo a missão de se tornar um ambiente destinado à prática artística, que desenvolvesse e solidificasse a cultura brasileira, além de permitir um intercâmbio cultural com o resto do mundo.

             The theater is born amid this atmosphere of turn of the century, the quest for modernity and, since then, brings the mission to become an environment for the artistic practice, to develop and solidify Brazilian culture, besides allowing a cultural exchange with the rest of the world.
